Quick Start for Field Staff
Use this guide when your job is to capture or review water meter readings from a phone, tablet, or browser.
Before you start
Section titled “Before you start”- Confirm you have an EasyBill account from your company admin.
- Sign in while you have an internet connection.
- Confirm the active company in the app header.
- Open Meters. Field staff usually see the meter-reading workspace first.
Read the Meters workspace
Section titled “Read the Meters workspace”The Meters screen has these tabs:
- To Read - meters that still need a reading.
- Zero - meters with zero-consumption results.
- Anomalies - readings that need review.
- Long Unread - meters without recent readings.
- Replace - meters marked for replacement work.
Capture a reading
Section titled “Capture a reading”- Open Meters.
- Start from To Read.
- Search for the meter or customer if the list is long.
- Open the meter or customer record.
- Enter the current meter value exactly as shown on the meter.
- Attach a photo if the form asks for proof.
- Save the reading.
- Return to Meters and confirm the record moved out of the immediate work queue or appears with the correct status.
Review a problem reading
Section titled “Review a problem reading”- Open Meters.
- Select Zero, Anomalies, or Long Unread.
- Open the record.
- Compare the current reading with the meter photo and previous reading.
- Correct the reading only if your role allows edits.
- Add a note or contact an admin when the reading cannot be corrected in the field.
End-of-day check
Section titled “End-of-day check”- Open Meters and confirm your assigned readings are no longer pending.
- If you captured readings on a mobile device, keep the app open after reconnecting so pending work can upload.
- Tell your supervisor about any meters that were blocked, damaged, unreadable, or missing.
