How Prorated Rent Calculations Work
The Standard Calendar Day Method
The fairest and most legally accepted method for prorating rent is dividing the full monthly rent by the exact number of days in that specific calendar month (e.g. 30 in April, 31 in May). The tenant is charged from their move-in date through the last day of the month inclusive.
Handling Second Month Rent
On the 1st of the following month, the tenant returns to the standard full-month billing cycle. TallyDue automates this transition so recurring rent notices reflect full periods automatically.
